On Sept. 2, the California Highway Patrol reported that 12 people were injured when a U-Haul truck collided with a limo. The motor vehicle accident happened shortly before 10:30 p.m. on a rural section of road northeast of Reedley. A Cadillac limousine with 12 occupants and a long U-Haul truck were the only two vehicles involved in the crash.
According to CHP, the limo was headed eastbound along Lincoln Avenue prior to the accident. When the vehicle came to a stop sign at the intersection of Englehart Avenue, it was struck by a southbound traveling U-Haul. The U-Haul driver had apparently drifted off the road before colliding with the rear driver's side of the limo.
In the moments following the accident, the driver of the U-Haul reportedly fled. An emergency responder at the scene also reported that one person was seen leaving in a burgundy Honda Civic after the crash. All 12 people who were in the limo were treated for minor injuries at area hospitals. Two of the injured victims were taken to Community Regional Medical Center by helicopter.
Accidents similar to this one can result in a financial burden for all of the people involved. Even when injuries are described as minor, the effects of those injuries could result in victims being unable to return to work for a significant period. To seek compensation for their unexpected financial losses, many car accident victims choose to file civil claims against the allegedly at-fault drivers. A personal injury lawyer may be able to help ensure that a victim's claim is filed correctly while helping the victim to pursue reimbursement for damages.
