California law enforcement authorities report that a suspected DUI crash killed one person on the evening of Sept. 28. Five others were also injured in the accident and treated at area hospitals.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a truck driven by a 30-year-old male ran a stop sign at an intersection, and it crashed into a four-door sedan. A 24-year-old male passenger in the truck who was not wearing a seat belt was ejected from the vehicle, and he died on the scene. The four passengers of the sedan, who range in ages from 16 to 23, were all taken to the Community Regional Medical Center located in Fresno to be treated for undisclosed injuries. Two of the sedan occupants were said to be in serious condition.
The driver of the truck also suffered injuries and was treated at a medical facility. Authorities suspect that the driver of the truck was drunk when the accident occurred, and he is expected to be taken to jail once he is discharged from the hospital. Residents in the area have reported that the Englehart Avenue and Dinuba Avenue intersection where the fatal collision happened is dangerous and that near misses happen frequently.
Attorneys representing victims who were injured in a motor vehicle accident may consider information from multiple sources when constructing a civil personal injury claim. The liable parties might be identified by evaluating police accident reports, eyewitness accounts and traffic camera footage. In some cases, a lawyer might also assess field sobriety tests and toxicology reports in order to establish a liable driver's negligence.
